Cause of This Dog Treat Recall

Tuffyโ€™s voluntarily recalled this product after the product manufacturer informed Tuffyโ€™s that the product may contain elevated levels of vitamin D. No reports of illness or injury have been reported from consumers to date. There are no other Pure Vita products affected by this recall.

What You Need to Know About Vitamin D

Vitamin D when consumed at very high levels can lead to serious health issues in dogs. Dogs ingesting higher levels of Vitamin D than is recommended may start to show symptoms. These symptoms may include:

  • vomiting
  • loss of appetite
  • increased thirst
  • increased urination
  • excessive drooling
  • weight loss.

The recalled product was distributed exclusively within America to distributors and retail stores across the nation.
