Cause of This Dog Food Recall

The Public Health Agency of Canada is working with Canadian provincial and territorial public health to investigate a recent outbreak of Salmonella infections occurring in the provinces of British Columbia (5), Alberta (2), and Yukon (1).

Based on the findings to date, exposure to pig ear dog treats has been identified as the likely source of the Salmonella outbreak. Some of the individuals who became sick reported feeding their dog Paws Up! before falling ill.

Individuals reported being sick between late February and early August 2020. Three individuals have been hospitalized. In addition, one individual has died from Salmonella poisoning.
