Cause of This Dog Treat Recall

The potential for contamination was noted after a routine sampling when a single 4-pound bag of the product revealed the bacteria, Salmonella.  The company has since ceased the production of the product and will continue their investigation.

What You Need to Know About Salmonella Poisoning

If your pet has Salmonella infection, they may become lethargic and have fever, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, and vomiting. Some less obvious side affects decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. If you pet has become infected but is still otherwise healthy they can still be carriers of Salmonella and infect other animals or humans. If you know your pet has consumed the recalled product, or is currently experiencing any these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian immediately.

Where Was the Product Sold?

The affected product was shipped to distributors for sale to consumers by independent pet specialty stores throughout all U.S. states.

This recall does not affect any other Billy+Margot products or those sold outside of the USA.

What to do Next

If you have purchased Billy+Margot Wild Kangaroo and Superfoods Recipe in a 4 lb bag, with the above mentioned lot code, it is recommended by the FDA that you stop feeding the product to your dogs immediately , dispose of the product, wash your hands accordingly, and proceed to sanitize any potentially affected surfaces.
